How to play

The rules of war

Everything you need to dominate the hex map, from your first tap to total conquest.

The basics

The map is made of hexes. Each hex shows a number — that’s how many dice are sitting on it. Dice are your army. More dice means a bigger roll and a better chance to win a fight.

Attacking

Tap one of your hexes that has 2 or more dice, then tap a neighboring enemy hex. Your hex rolls all its dice and the defender rolls all of theirs. The higher total wins. If you win, you capture the hex and leave 1 die behind to hold it. If you lose, your attacking hex drops to 1 die.

2rolls 2 dice

Who can attack

A hex with only 1 die cannot attack — it’s just holding ground. You need at least 2 dice on a hex to launch an attack from it.

Reinforcements

At the start of each turn you gain new dice equal to half the number of hexes you own (rounded down, minimum 1). They’re spread across your hexes automatically. No hex can hold more than 8 dice. More land means a bigger army every turn — so keep expanding.

Winning

Eliminate every rival color from the map to win. In a game against the AI, you lose if your last hex is captured. In Pass & Play, the last warlord standing takes the throne.

Chaos mode

Some hexes are marked with a star. Capture a starred hex and the Wheel of Chaos spins, unleashing a random consequence on the war — surges, quakes, revolts, bounties and more. Turn it on for wild, swingy games.
